My First Project For Myself

Hey Everyone Recently I have been wanting to push myself into learning more about this profession and get into the technical things with images. I have absolutely fallen in love with Bokeh, Not sure why I have but there is just something that really catches my eye about the lovely blur that is found into the background of images.

While looking at others work and trying to figure if it was mainly In camera blur or additional added from Photoshop, I thought to myself Leesa why not Test it out in camera. That is the best way to learn and focus on bringing your ability Up In the world.

So what I did was grabbed my camera and the 50 mm lens as well as one of my vintage cameras and headed for my front yard and started shooting with different F STOPS and adjusting my WB and the images and Blur were Beautiful.

I then came back inside and changed my lens to my Kit Lens The 18-55 mm and then went back out and played around. I changed my distance my angle and the difference was so Clear on which lens is much better with Bokeh, The 50 mm Because of the fact you can get the f Stop low enough where you achieve a small amount of focus and a Beautiful Bokeh.

This Project was so fun to practice and turns out I LOVE the images coming from this and I want to achieve more lovely images so I will definitely be Giving myself projects as soon as I can so that I am able to work with more of my camera and less in the editing process.

I must say If you photograph for a living, Take a break from the desk and head outside and capture some random object, animal and person and really push yourself and you never know you may LOVE what you accomplish. I want to say thank you to those who really have Shown me that perseverance and Hard work are Well worth the Smiles you capture. Thank you to Stephanie Stafford, An Amazing Fine Art Photographer for helping and showing that time will help you achieve great things.

Below Is a Collage with settings on the different Bokeh that was achieved Thank you for stopping By Feel free to contact me or comment with any questions.

FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER- Sara Mahoney

Today's Post is Of a lovely Photographer and Business Woman Sara From Oh Darling Photography.. Head over and check out her Beautiful Work.

I'm Sara, a natural light photographer in Indiana. I love to shoot everything, but have found my niche with families and children. I've always loved photography, but got a little more into it when my older kids were little. I probably drove them crazy, but I always had a camera in their faces!

I actually started to get serious a few years ago with the encouragement of my husband. In fact, I probably wouldn't be doing it at all if it weren't for him. He's always been supportive and helped me out more than I could have imagined over the last few years.
I started out with just a little Nikon point and shoot, just practicing on friends and family. After going through several models and LOTS of practice, I finally upgraded to my full frame Canon a few months ago, and am totally in love. I still keep my Rebel T1 in my bag as a backup and my go-to camera for everyday things. I also keep a few lenses, but my 50mm stays on the camera most of the time.

I would tell any beginner to keep shooting! Practice, read articles, watch videos and practice some more. It's so very easy to get knocked down in this business. There will be clients that are difficult and other photographers that will do their best to drag you down. Keep your head up and do what you love!

Why You Should Capture Those First Birthday/ Cake Smash Sessions?

Hello everyone,

I know It has been a little while since I have posted anything. I have been so busy with starting my new Photography Tools Store as well as so many Lovely Sessions. I hope that you all have been doing well and are still looking forward to my blog posts.
Today, I will be explaining why it is so important to capture those beautiful 1st Birthdays and those Cake Smash sessions. So sit back, Have a drink and I hope that you truly enjoy and understand the importance.
1st Birthday's Are an amazing tribute to the birth of your baby, Whether it is your first child or your 6th Child and so on. This event Is so important to us Mothers as we celebrate the life that we have brought into this world and that we Love so unconditionally. It is so important to capture this momentous Occasion so that we can look back and remember the memories of when that child was a Baby.
Each 1st Birthday is different and special in their own way and should each be captured and celebrated to show the love that you have for those beautiful growing babies. Remember It is best to hire a professional to capture these moments so that you can be a part of the celebration and not missing a moment of your child's Special Day.

Celebrating Has now started with a session called A Cake Smash Session, This is allowing that Growing baby to dig into his/her First Birthday Cake and allowing them to Be them when it comes to digging into it. This is a fun and beautiful session and Shows the love and adoration of the Baby through little moments. They smile, They laugh and sometimes they don't know what to do with the cake Lol, But in the end they enjoy every moment and This is such a Beautiful moment.
Just remember Enjoy the Little Things and Enjoy your Little Ones Having a good time By Allowing someone to capture those 1st Moments and 1st Birthdays

How I Chose The location For A Beautiful Maternity Session

Hey Everyone, Leesa Here Just wanted to drop in and post another informed blog post. This post is about How I chose a specific Location for one of my recent Maternity Sessions. I hope that you enjoy and to keep in mind When choosing your location think Theme, Like are you wanting Rustic, Water, Alot of greenery These are important when choosing your location. I hope you enjoy.

When needing a Perfect spot for a Maternity session, I always Ask the client first where they would like to have their session. I always Make suggestions when asked where I thought would be a good place. With This lovely lady, First she wanted to capture her beautiful maternity down at the Riverwalk in Augusta Georgia and I said sure sounds wonderful to me, so we started to plan the little details of her session time, date etc.

After a day or two, She contacted me back stating she had seen a lovely park with flowers in my portfolio from a previous session and wanted to know some information about that Park. So I stated that It was Pendleton King Park In Augusta, Georgia and that it was a lovely place to take a maternity session as most of the time it is quiet and definitely has the open and unique spaces for beautiful portraits, She stated she would like to change her Previous Location to this Location and I stated that will be perfectly fine and that I could not wait to capture her beautiful maternity for her.

With Locations I offer suggestions and help when a location cannot be chosen, But I ultimately allow the client to choose their location as to how they would like their images to look. I prefer outdoors locations to indoor as their are more ways to pose and to arrange an idea into an image. So when you decide to select your location, Keep in mind the distance as that will affect pricing with some photographers and also do a little research of the areas to ensure you have an idea of how you would like to capture your Next amazing session.

Thank you for stopping by And please feel free to share, Comment, Follow and Like. I would love to help you in any way while you plan your next great Photographic Adventure. Thank you so much for your Support and I hope you Have a Wonderful 4th of July.

My Favorite Images To Date

Hey everyone I hope you are having a wonderful Week and looking forward to the weekend. Today I wanted to talk about some of my favorite images and to show you some of my all time Favorite images. I take a lot of different types of sessions and Meet a lot of different people and I truly enjoy my career and the joys of capturing beautiful images and helping preserve beautiful memories.

My first Favorite Image was from a recent Maternity Session, Kaitlyn. I first met Kaitlyn at her best friend's Maternity session and from there we set up her own maternity session before she left for Florida. She did amazing and looked Beautiful. The reason this one is one of my favorites Is because while editing a vision came for how I wanted this image to look and WOW It came out beautifully, I chose Black and White for an intense emotional connection between viewer and the image as well as how the mommy to be saw her body, Beautiful and Glowing. Thank you Kaitlyn for allowing me to capture these beautiful images for you, This one is my absolute Favorite.

The next Favorite Image was from a Maternity Session from a week ago. I had purchased a piece of fabric for a chair Prop and when the time came for the session I asked if we could use it as well as a new floral head dress as one of the outfits and she said sure, And once I saw the images through my camera I absolutely fell in love with how these were so warm, fairy tale like and just absolutely glowing and gorgeous. Her session went amazingly and I want to thank you Lorena For allowing me to capture you and your baby girl before she arrives.

My Next favorite Would have to be a Re edit of one of the original Weddings that I have captured. Rebecca Had a lovely small outdoor county wedding. While there we went and took a few bridals and I absolutely loved the country feel and the rustic look of her wedding, This image looked completely different the first time editing and now my editing skills have changed and I really went into this image with every detail and It came out very beautiful. Thank you Rebecca for allowing me to capture you Big Day And I hope you love the new edit of your beautiful image.

The last Favorite Image would be from a Theme session from over a year ago. I love theme sessions, and this was by far one of my favorite sessions. The theme was a Mad hatter out in the woods type session and She did amazing Kaitlin is an amazing model and really works the camera. Thanks Kaitlin for allowing me to take these Beautiful modeling images for you.

Thanks for coming by and reading my newest Blog entry I hope that you enjoy the images and as always feel free to Share, Follow, Comment and lets talk Photography.

Daddy and Me Mini Session- Ed and EJ

I had the absolute honor to capture a beautiful Daddy and me mini session recently and they were an absolute blast to work with and to really show their father and son moments. Ed and EJ did amazing and little man was first kind of shy and then he really enjoyed playing with the toys.

I really love how their bond truly shows through out their session and I really enjoyed meeting and talking with this wonderful family. I have become wonderful friends with Brooke the Mother and Wife of these too fellas and capturing moments for them have truly been a blessing and a wonderful experience.

The day was perfect for this session and the location turned out to be perfect as well. It truly showed the innocence and fun a baby can have with the imagination they are born with. I would really like to say thank you to The Drivers' for allowing me to capture such precious and wonderful moments for them to hold onto, You have a beautiful and wonderful family and I look forward to capturing more beautiful moments for you in the future.

Kayla's Maternity Session

Recently I have had the pleasure and Honor to capture such a wonderful type of moment in Women's Lives... Maternity Images. There is nothing more pure and shows more emotion than the moment a woman feels her baby kick for the first time and the first Sonogram image of that precious Little being.

One of my latest sessions Was of a beautiful woman named Kayla. She was at 35 weeks pregnant and absolutely glowing. She was such a happy momma and such a pleasure to capture these wonderful images for her to keep forever.

She is expecting Baby Boy anytime now and she cannot wait to hold little Baby K. The daddy and older sister also joined and had so much fun being in some of the images, and you can truly see the love this family shares with each other. I really had fun and enjoyed speaking with Kayla about her upcoming new bundle of joy and I look forward to meeting the Little Guy. I am posting just a few of these beautiful images to show how much this family loves and adores the new addition before he has even entered this world.

Thank you Kayla, Eric and Bella for allowing me to be your photographer and I look forward to seeing and capturing more precious moments for you and your family. As always feel free to share this post and SUBSCRIBE by clicking into the right hand corner on your laptop or computer.

Recent Modeling Session- Cowgirl Up

Hi Everyone, I hope that you all are having an amazing week. Recently I have truly been having an amazing time capturing some beautiful images. And this most recent Modeling session Is by far one of my Top 10 Favorites. I was looking around for some inspiration and realized my small country Town was truly my inspiration. I live in a small town Called Hephzibah, Yes that is truly the name hahaha. I have lived here most of my life and I love every aspect of it.

So while planning this Modeling session I made arrangements with a Great friend to capture some beautiful Country Style Images. She was so excited to be a part and So was I. Our first phase was the outfits, I definitely wanted the country vibe so we went with Boots, Hat, shorts and a tank top for the first look. The second was a white short dress with Hat and Boots, and the Last I wanted the Chevron Pattern bright and bold to stand out So we captured a Pink Chevron top with shorts, Boots and Hat. And our second Phase Finding a location was quite easy, Down from my home. Because there is a Cotton Field behind my home as well as a dirt road and plenty of overgrown grass.

The lighting was so perfect on this day and We truly captured some beautiful modeling Images. Shannon did such an amazing job with posing and just being so open to new poses and ideas.

I hope that you enjoy this wonderful session that We have captured and Remember You do not have to be a professional Model, Modeling can be something that brings a smile to your face and makes you feel better about You.

The Differences Between Black and White Portraits and Color Portraits

Differences Between Black and White Portraits and Color Portraits

Hey everyone, Leesa Here I am writing a neat little article about the differences between Black and White images and Color Images. I hope that you enjoy the reading and feel free to share or comment with any questions.
There are just a few differences between Black and White and Color images Besides the original difference, THE COLOR. One is that the contrast and lighting can be majorly different and show a new side to an image that you would not get with one being Color and one being Black and White.
I personally Love both types of photography and try to add a little Black and White into Clients packages. These differences can change an outlook fast and make you think whether the image is Dramatic or a fun, lightly descriptive image.
When looking at a Black and White Image you can see the shadows can be more harsh than in a color image as well as the light that shines can really show a Haze type of light into the image. A color image the haze may not show unless brought out through an editing session and the shadows are not as harsh if taken in the correct lighting.
Remember Lighting Is Key, whether you are shooting all Black and White images or A mixture of both. I love my color so much that I use it a lot more than I do with Black and White But I try to even the editing to a limit on both so that the client receives a different feel to certain images.
So remember If you enjoy capturing images, Try something new and add some black and white to certain images and It can open up a new look into your type of photography and your editing style. GET CREATIVE, BE CREATIVE, CREATE ART.
Thank you for reading and As said before Feel free to Subscribe to my blog at the top right corner on your Computer or handheld device also feel free to comment and lets Collaborate  and have wonderful back and forth about a wonderful type of career and the fun and interesting things you can learn with Photography.
